Each year, our incoming students have the opportunity to participate in a series of seminars, workshops and training courses during orientation week. Events are organized by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in partnership with the student affairs division.

Linfield United in Pride (LUP) is Linfield's Queer Student Union (QSU) on the McMinnville campus. LUP provides a space for students to talk about experiences and learn about sexuality and gender with a focus on LGBTQIA+ social climates on campus - as well as globally.

Rx: Pride is the School of Nursing's club for LGBTQIA+ students and allies. Rx: Pride advocates for anti-bullying and anti-discrimination in the Linfield community as well as the greater Portland Metro community.

Many students find that gendered housing arrangements don’t work well for them. Since 2015, gender-inclusive housing options have been made are available for all Linfield students who wish to live in a space where placements are not made based on gender identity. Incoming students can indicate these preferences on their online housing forms. Returning students are also able to request gender-inclusive housing groups by application. If you have questions or concerns about housing, please contact ResLife.

In order to create a safer learning environment for all students, Linfield University has evolved single-occupant bathrooms to be gender-inclusive. Many university buildings have all-gender or single-occupant restrooms. Find the nearest all-gender restrooms on campus.

Linfield partners with PacificSource to provide Student Health Benefits Plan, which includes gender-affirming services, including hormone and surgical treatment. Pre-authorization is required, but patients are aligned with a nursing partner to streamline the process.

Our mental health service providers are equipped to support students of all gender identities and are happy to work with transgender, gender non-conforming and non-binary students to achieve their mental health goals.

Any student can ask to set up a “chosen” name. The chosen name appears on some documentation, like class rosters and email aliases, but not on official documents like transcripts, financial aid, and tax records (unless accompanied by a legal name change – see below). Your CatNet ID is changed if the chosen name change is made after you have started at Linfield. You can go to Linfield Public Safety in order to print a new ID card.

You can work with the Office of the Registrar to update your documentation with the university.

Learning Support Services (LSS for short) is here to assist all students in the pursuit of their academic and life goals. LSS will work cooperatively with you as you develop self-determined behaviors, learn self-advocacy skills and create a network of support.

The Office of Career Development has a variety of career-related tools and resources to assist with career exploration, internships and workplace rights. Linfield also posts its job openings on the Oregon Pride in Business career website as part of our continued effort to welcome staff and faculty from the LGBTQ community.
