The academic advising process

Once admitted, you will be assigned a professional academic advisor who will contact you to provide an introduction, learn about your academic goals and schedule an initial advising appointment. The requirements of the degree or certificate you are seeking will be covered in this initial appointment, and an academic plan will be tailored to meet your personal and professional goals.

The result is a clear plan of action for you to follow so you will know exactly what you need to do to achieve your goals. To support those goals, advisors offer you:

• Ongoing contact: Advisors will continue to stay in touch and help you evaluate your progress throughout your degree, serving as a resource for you as you navigate Linfield.
• Academic updates: If you find yourself faced with challenges due to conflicting priorities, we are here to help you get back on track. We also serve as a single point of contact so you can easily be connected to on-campus and online support services and resources. 
• RN-to-BSN transfer: The RN-to-BSN academic advising process is slightly different and includes a transfer to another advisor upon starting the nursing program. Please visit the RN-to-BSN program page for more information on the degree.
