Events and Wine Lecture Series
The Center for Wine Education at Linfield University hosts wine events and the Wine Lecture Series, supported by Marka and Thomas Hughes. Their support provides wine-themed lectures, panel sessions, roundtable discussions and films featuring speakers and filmmakers from Oregon and around the world.

Oak & Vine Society Spring Gathering
Join us for an afternoon of exceptional wine and community at the Oak & Vine Society Spring Gathering! Enjoy wines from 12 Oak & Vine Society Winery Partners, complemented by delicious lunchtime bites. The Center for Wine Education will feature a Wine Sensory Experience booth, open to all attendees. Non-members are welcome with a ticket purchase, while members enjoy complimentary access. This year’s theme celebrates archives, education, and the Wine Studies mission at Linfield—don’t miss this chance to sip, savor and connect!

Conversation with Alex Sokol Blosser
Join us at Linfield University for a Wildcat Wine Chat with Alex Sokol Blosser, president & second-generation winegrower at Sokol Blosser Wines as he shares his journey in wine. The conversation will be hosted by Maria Ponzi, director of the Center for Wine Education. Under 21 years of age welcome.

A Taste of Oregon Wine History
Immerse yourself in the early and evolving days of Oregon wine with storytelling by local wine pioneers Dick Ponzi, Rob Stuart and Adam Campbell. Moderated by Rich Schmidt of the Oregon Wine Archives & Maria Ponzi. A tasting of older vintages is included for this limited-capacity event. Free Admission! Public and those under 21 welcome.

Tailored for the busy working wine professional, this intensive workshop will go deep into honing skills necessary to succeed in today’s challenging wine industry. Notable regional industry experts will cover wine accounting, finance, marketing & sales. Includes a light breakfast, lunch, and reception. $850 per guest. Seats are limited.

Apertura: Opening Doors to Oregon Wine Apertura focuses on creating spaces, both physical and professional, for those who have historically been excluded from the wine industry. Apertura’s panels and workshops examine overlapping categories of exclusion, including socioeconomic, identity and physical ability.

Open House and Conversation with Sandra Taylor The Oregon Wine History Archives and the Linfield Center for Wine Education presented an open house and conversation with Sandra Taylor. Guests toured the wine archives at Linfield followed by a conversation with Sandra Taylor, author, columnist and expert in sustainable certification of wine and coffee.

Women & Wine: A Black Woman’s Story A guest panel of Black women winemakers including Chevonne Ball of Dirty Radish wine tours, Justin Trabue, assistant winemaker at Lumen Wines and Eunice Chiweshe Goldstein of Eunice Chiweshe Goldstein Winery. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in honor of Black brilliance in wine as part of Linfield's Black History Month celebration. Moderated by Dr. Jennifer Madden, dean of Linfield’s School of Business.

Black & Wine: A Black Man’s Journey to Wine Bertony Faustin of Abbey Creek Vineyard and Marcus Johnson of FLO Wines discussed the industry in light of recent events, individual winery projects and how they came to the world of wine. Moderated by Dr. Jennifer Madden, dean of Linfield’s School of Business.

A Conversation with Jancis Robinson MW Jancis Robinson, one of the world’s leading wine writers, joins the Linfield Center for Wine Education for a special virtual conversation on all things wine. Robinson was voted the world’s most influential wine critics in polls in the U.S., France and internationally in 2018. She writes daily for JancisRobinson.com and weekly for the Financial Times. She is the founder-editor of The Oxford Companion to Wine, co-author with Hugh Johnson of The World Atlas of Wine and co-author of Wine Grapes. Each of these books is recognized as a standard reference worldwide.
