Help make Linfield the toughest home field and court in the Northwest Conference! The Linfield Athletic Band performs at football and basketball games, as well as college and community events. Open to all majors and skill levels. In fact, more than 90% of our members are not music majors. Participation awards of up to $2000 per academic year are available.

How do I sign up? If you’re all ready to go, sign up now! You'll receive a welcome email with instructions on how to register for the class.

Do I need to have prior marching experience to participate? Do I need to be a music major? We welcome all majors and skill levels! We will train you with the performance skills you need to succeed.

What instruments can join? We invite students playing the following instruments:
- Woodwinds
- Brass
- Drum set
- Drumline
- Synthesizer/piano
- Bass, electric and acoustic guitar

Can I participate if I’m a graduate student? Absolutely! Graduate students are welcome to perform with us.

Can I get a scholarship for being in the band? Yes! We offer up to $2,000 per year in participation scholarships. The award amount is determined by your full financial aid package.

How many hours per week does the band rehearse? We rehearse five hours per week (Wednesday and Friday evenings). Performances may be on nights and weekends during football and basketball season. All in all the time commitment is very reasonable.

Can I get credit for being in the athletic band? Yes! You can earn paracurricular credit. Talk to your advisor for specific information.

Is the Pre-Orientation Band Camp required? Yes, students participating in the band need to attend camp. In extreme circumstances, a student may be excused, but you need to have a conversation with the director in advance.

Can I participate in other co-curricular activities or sports that may sometimes conflict with band? Absolutely! Many of our students are involved in other clubs and organizations such as Greek life, theatre and resident life, just to name a few.
